By J. Rosalye Luna

PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Film Office reported a record-breaking $21.8 million in economic activity for the fiscal year 2023-2024, marking the highest financial impact the city has seen from the film industry in five years. This growth, up from $19.5 million last year, underscores Phoenix’s rising prominence as a prime filming location.

Mayor Kate Gallego credited the Phoenix Film Office for attracting productions that have significantly boosted the local economy, creating job opportunities and benefiting businesses that serve film crews. Over the past year, Phoenix hosted 1,341 projects across 1,068 production days.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Phoenix Film Office continues to play a vital role in the city’s economic and cultural landscape, drawing productions ranging from corporate photography to major films like the upcoming “Star People” and “The Unstoppable.” The office’s efforts, supported by partners like the Arizona Office of Film & Digital Media, have solidified Phoenix as a thriving hub for the film industry.
