Housing First and Community Volunteers Assemble Donations for the Unsheltered Population

TUCSON, AZ – The City of Tucson’s Housing First team will partner with community volunteers this week to assemble support kits for the unsheltered population.

When: Friday, Oct. 20, 2023

Where: Housing First office, at 195 W. Irvington Road (Building 15)

What: City staff from the Multidisciplinary Outreach Team, volunteers from Eller College, faith-based 4Tucson, and the Goodwill Youth Program will assemble 300 kits

Right Work, Right Hands - Wildcat Inn & Housing First

The kits will contain essential donated items, such as non-perishable food, water, hygiene products, and other necessities to support individuals experiencing homelessness. The kits will be distributed by Housing First outreach workers during their daily efforts, ensuring that they reach those in need.

Housing First is an evidence-based approach to ending homelessness that centers on quickly moving people experiencing homelessness into independent and permanent housing and then providing additional support and services as needed.
